Born in Xanxerê, Brazil, Blue Mar (Marcelo Deiss) fuses raw indie rock with the soulful rhythms of his homeland, effortlessly blending indie rock, harmonica, and intricate guitar work, both nostalgic and fresh.Following the success of his early bilingual releases HURL and The March Hare, both sung in English and Portuguese, which earned praise from American Songwriter, Broke Magazine, and Culture Collide, Blue Mar has continued to carve out his place in the alternative music scene. His latest singles, Fallen Leaves, Tough Spell, and Belle of the Ball have gained worldwide radio play, landing features on MTV and Radio Rock."

Blue Mar’s sophomore album, OLIVEIRA is a bold tribute to his heritage, subtly blending Brazilian instruments with the gritty textures of alternative rock. The album, produced by Mar and Pedro Serapicos, mixed by Craig Silvey, and mastered by Matt Colton, channels the raspy intensity of Miles Kane, Kasabian’s Tom Meighan, and Stereophonics’ Kelly Jones. Deep bass lines, dynamic percussion, and driving guitars create a sound that leaves listeners torn between dancing and head banging.
The album’s release was marked by a sold-out show at Rough Trade Berlin, followed by a successful European tour, including headline and support dates in Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, and Austria. Previous touring and festivals also include Brazil, the UK, South Africa and Mozambique. OLIVEIRA has also secured major placements on BBC, Radio Rock, and over 15 major Brazilian retail brands, including Natura & Chilli Beans.

With a feature in Rolling Stone Brasil, Blue Mar continues to gain recognition as an exciting emerging artist pushing the boundaries of alternative rock. OLIVEIRA vinyl is now available at Rough Trade.
