BIO
Born amidst the vibrant beats of Brazil, Blue Mar's musical DNA is inherently infused with the soulful essence of Brazilian music. In the ever-evolving landscape of alternative music, his genre-defying compositions effortlessly meld elements of indie rock with the infectious groove of samba and Brazilian sounds. His previous work 'HURL' and 'The March Hare' earned praise from publications such as American Songwriter, Broke Magazine and Culture Collide.

"OLIVEIRA," Blue Mar's sophomore album, released on October 11th, reflects his profound connection to his heritage and pays homage to the artists who have paved the way before him while also carving out a unique place in the alternative music scene. Despite the challenges of coming from South America and primarily performing in English, Blue Mar embraces his sense of displacement, using it as a catalyst to reconnect with his roots. The album artfully combines instruments from his upbringing with the influences he admires, creating a captivating blend of gritty guitars and subtle Brazilian undertones. It showcases Mar's voice—reminiscent of the raspy edge of Miles Kane, Tom Meighan of Kasabian, or Kelly Jones of Stereophonics—accompanied by percussions that infuse the music with Brazilian flavor and solid bass and drum lines. This combination creates an energy that leaves listeners torn between dancing and headbanging.
Following the album’s official release show at Rough Trade Berlin, Blue Mar embarked on a successful European tour, sharing "OLIVEIRA" with audiences across the continent. The album was produced by Blue Mar and Pedro Serapicos, mixed by Craig Silvey, and mastered by Matt Colton.
